How to Apply

The Admissions Process

The Master’s in Telecommunications program is open to applications holding a regionally-accredited baccalaureate degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics or related technical fields with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications with an undergraduate GPA of slightly less than 3.0 may be considered if they have demonstrated strong performance in prior graduate studies and/or professional experience. Because of the program’s rigorous technical core curriculum, applicants must have sufficient background in engineering math.

Submit the Application

After completing both required and relevant items, submit your application and pay the $75 application fee.

Next Steps and Application Status

AY# and UID: After you submit the application and pay the application fee, you will be sent a confirmation email with your AY application # and UID. Please retain this information. To expedite inquiries regarding your application, include the AY# and/or UID.

Application Status: Log back in to your AY Application to check your application status. This information will be displayed on your dashboard.

Test Scores: Request that official test scores be sent to the University of Maryland. Use code 5814. No department or program code is necessary. Do not send scores to the ENTS Program Office.

You can check your application status by logging into your AY Application. The status will be displayed on your dashboard. Please note your application is not considered complete until all test scores have been received.

The Graduate School makes all final admissions decisions and will issue the official admission letter. Admitted students who choose to enroll will be required to submit official, hard-copy transcripts to the Graduate School.

International students: transcripts and TOEFL or IELTS scores must also be reviewed by the Graduate School.

I-20 For International Students

The I-20 is issued by the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSS) after the Graduate School grants admission. Upon admission, you will be contacted via email by ISSS regarding the next steps in the process. The email will be sent to the email address included in our application. You will need to respond to the requested information including evidence of financial support, immigration history (if applicable), and shipping information. ISSS estimates that the I-20 will be sent out approximately 21 days after all information is received and verified.
