International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS): International Student Services

International Student & Scholar Services provides services for international students regarding immigration, OPT, employment, health insurance, final semester, visa renewals etc. ISSS can also help you to find out more about adjusting to American culture and academics.

Writing Centers: Improving Your Writing

The Graduate School Writing Center  provides one-on-one writing consultation for enrolled Graduate Students. Writing fellows work with students within their colleges on structure, argument, disciplinary expectations, citation, voice, syntax, and usage and grammar.

English Editing for International Graduate Students offers free editing services for international graduate students. See their website for appointment instructions.

Counseling Center: Counseling Support for a Variety of Issues

The Counseling Center is the primary campus provider of free and confidential therapy to help UMD students manage personal, social, and academic challenges. Staffed primarily by licensed psychologists, the Counseling Service also conducts campus outreach presentations, provides emergency response services, and assists with referrals to off-campus mental health providers.

Consultation with a therapist about students of concern is available to University faculty, staff, and parents on the Counseling Service warmline.

If you are experiencing an urgent crisis, you may go to the Counseling Center front desk and request to be seen for a same-day urgent visit.
