Wireless Spectrum Autcion Brings in $80.9B

The FCC’s auction of the C-band spectrum finished Friday, January 15, 2021, raising almost $81 billion, exceeding all expectations after 97 rounds of bidding.

On Friday Jan 15, the most important phase of the C-block spectrum auction conducted by the FCC was completed, raising a record $80.9 billion, exceeding all expectations. The auction will allow cellular deployment in the 3.7GHz band facilitating growth of proposed 5G networks. The proceeds from the C-block auction far exceeds the previous record of almost $45 billion raised in the 2015 AWS-3 auction. For more details, see this article.
